At your France vacation rental - What is there to do?
You should be able to find whatever you are looking for in a French holiday. St Lucien is set in beautiful countryside which is a pleasure for both walkers and cyclists or for those who prefer just to laze the days away.
The spa town of Forges-les-Eaux with its famous casino is close by, as are the picturesque forest villages of Lyons-La-Forêt (home of Maurice Ravel) and Ry, famed as the setting for Flaubert's "Madame Bovary."

Garden lovers can find pleasures in abundance - there are over 60 gardens open to the public in Haute Normandie. The most popular is always Monet's Garden at Giverny which is less than an hour's drive away. But that only gives a taste of what there is to see.

No visit to the area would ever be complete without at least one day in the wonderful historic city of Rouen. The variety of old streets, buildings and churches needs to be experienced. In the beautiful Vieux Marché, be prepared for the local banter, "This is where you English burnt Joan of Arc!" In addition, it is not for nothing that Rouen is known as the city of museums. We have written a tour of the city for our visitors - if you want a copy, just ask.

Only a short drive away, the Château of Vascoeuil (exhibitions of contemporary art) with its beautiful old colombier (pigeon loft) and the lovely Château of Martainville (Normandy traditions and furniture) make ideal visits.

The Valley of the Seine boasts numerous pleasures. The view from the ruined Richard the Lionheart castle, Château Gaillard, is stunning and the locks which raise boats from the lower to the upper Seine are a pleasure for children of all ages!

Here you can walk from one side of the Seine to the other across the hydro-electric dam and, if you go on a Sunday or Thursday afternoon, soak up the atmosphere of a traditional guingette.

The coast boasts many resorts: among them the ferry port of Dieppe, Etretat with its stunning cliff formations, Fécamp and its beautiful Benedictine palace and distillery and a bit further away the lovely port of Honfleur. Paris makes a wonderful day out and we shall be happy to advise you on the best ways to get there.

What else? There is so much. But don't forget the markets to be found daily in our surrounding towns and villages. And of course food and drink - local produce includes cider, calvados and cheese. Whether you want to eat in or at a local restaurant, Normandy cuisine with its ample use of cider, apples, butter and cream is world famous.
